Today the war continues in the circumstances we know and the Jewish people are experiencing threatening levels of anti-Semitism. The pain of the last few weeks is infinite on both the Israeli and Palestinian sides and, in this context, a video lesson seems quite futile.
However, we are firmly convinced that raising awareness of the Jewish roots of the Christian faith is relevant and can also be a strong vehicle for peace and unity.
After centuries of violence and hatred, Jews and Christians have indeed been able not only to engage in dialogue, but also to build lasting and sincere friendships. History can be overcome, and it has been.
In this sense, we have chosen to share with you now this fundamental teaching given by Monsignor Etienne Vetö, a brother in the Chemin Neuf Community and, since last September, auxiliary bishop of Reims.
We hope that this encounter will give rise in you to a desire to explore and share this question of roots, which Etienne Vetö emphasises are ‘the present of the tree’ of our faith.
